Watermelon is a summertime must-have in my family. Every pool party, graduation cookout, or family get together has it written in the bylaws as mandatory. You can not throw a proper cookout without the quintessential watermelon. In fact, I can’t recall any summer outdoor celebration and/or feast in recent days or times past where it wasn’t present. Maybe it’s just my peoples’ thing, but it’s something that I have grown to expect when my family gathers. Apart from that, however, I rarely buy it! I mean I really like it. It’s juicy. It’s refreshing. It just screams summertime. So I don’t really know why I don’t eat it more often!
Well recently, I got my hands on some organic margarita mix made with agave. I don’t know what made me think of it but I felt like watermelon would be the bomb with this. So I get a melon and with no rhyme or reason just started adding stuff to the blender. It was wonderful. Then I realized that I had a problem. The margarita mix was bought on clearance at Target and they stopped selling it! 😩 I couldn’t just give up this new yum. I had to find a way to recreate it without the mix and so I developed this recipe. It has zero refined sugar. Agave nectar, watermelon, limes, and ice. That’s all. (Also a little cilantro if you get down.)
The best part is that t has zero refined sugar. Agave, watermelon, limes, and ice. That’s all. (Also a little cilantro if you get down.) This limeade is perfect on any day but especially awesome on those extra hot summer days. And a little trick that I like to use is freezing some of the drink in ice trays so that your drink is never watered down. You could also freeze some melon balls to accomplish the same. I hope you love it as much as we do. And if so, drop a note in the comments and don’t forget to give it a rating.
