DIY Pantry Pancake Syrup

  • 1/2 c dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 c white sugar
  • 1/2 c water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp maple extract optional
  • 1/8 tsp salt


  • Whisk all of the ingredients to a saucepan over medium heat. Bring it to a boil stirring consistently. Once it bubbles to foam after about 5-6 minutes, drop the heat to simmer and whisk. Check the whisk for clinging droplets. Remove from the burner and allow to cool slightly. 


The syrup can be served immediately but will thicken to a more syrup like state after cooling. Store in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.
