Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Rinse and drain the beans; set aside. In a large cast-iron skillet or dutch oven over medium heat, cook the bacon until slightly crisp. Add the sausage slices in a single layer to brown on both sides. Toss in the onion and sauté them for 2-3 minutes or until softened slightly.
Next, add the butter and tomato paste mix it into the sausage. Continue adding the beans, cinnamon, mustard powder, cayenne, molasses, salt, brown sugar, maple syrup, and water. Stir everything carefully so that you don’t mash the beans. Place the skillet in the preheated oven to bake uncovered for 1 hour and 30 minutes*.
