What is monkey bread?
Monkey bread is a rich yeast dough cut into bite-size pieces that are dipped in butter and rolled in cinnamon-sugar before being baked together in a bundt pan. The end result is a cluster of sweetened soft bread balls that you pull apart to eat. Monkey bread can also be savory and is sometimes made from pizza dough and biscuit dough.

This monkey bread recipe is based on my master Sweet Roll Dough and Brown Sugar Caramel Sauce recipes. Both the dough and caramel sauce is easy to make but you can save time and just use store-bought. I’m only using a half recipe of dough but a full recipe will fit perfectly into a 10-12 cup bundt pan.
Instructions
Make the MasterSweet Roll Dough recipe found HERE. Once the dough is made, allow it to rise once. After the dough rises, punch it down and divide the dough into 2” pieces. Roll the dough pieces into balls. Prepare the bundt pan with butter sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and caramel on the bottom.
Dip the dough balls into the butter followed by the cinnamon sugar. Layer half of the balls in the bundt pan and pour over half of the caramel. Repeat with the remaining dough and sauce.
Bake for 30-35 minutes at 350° in a preheated oven. Once the monkey bread is done, turn it out onto a platter while it is hot so that it doesn’t stick to the pan.
