Make soft fluffy Dinner Rolls from scratch in 1-hour. This is a quick and easy fail-proof recipe for bakers of all levels.
These delicious Dinner Rolls could not be easier. I’m using my Master Sweet Roll Dough to make them. The dough is rich and stretchy making it perfect for quick breads like this. I use this dough to make Cinnamon Rolls and Honey Buns. The master dough comes together within 15-20 minutes and uses quick or instant yeast so it will rise quickly. But the real secret to dinner rolls in 1-hour is that the dough is risen only once before baking and uses my fail-proof quick rise method.
Dinner rolls equipment and ingredients
Sweet Roll Dough
Butter
Water
8×8 baking dish
9×13 or larger baking dish
Make the MasterSweet Roll Dough recipe found HERE and follow the instruction below. Once the dough is made, pre-heat the oven to 250 degrees. Fill the 8×8 baking dish with hot water and place it onto the bottom floor of the oven for moisture. Once the temperature is achieved, turn off the oven.
Instructions
While the oven is preheating, roll the dough into 12 uniformed balls if using half recipe or 24 if using the full recipe and arrange them in a baking dish. Cover the dish with a damp towel and place it into the warm, off oven on the middle rack for 20-25 minutes to double in size.
After the dough has risen, remove it from the oven and brush the rolls with melted butter. Turn the oven 350-degrees and return the rolls to bake 22-25 minutes; no need to pre-heat the oven at this point.
The internal temperature should read 190 degrees when done. Remove the rolls and brush with more melted butter.
How to freeze quick dinner rolls
This dough can be made in advance and used as needed. It freezes and bakes just as well as fresh dough.
To freeze for later use: evenly divide the dough into uniformed balls. Arrange them on a wax paper-lined baking sheet. Cover the dough loosely with another sheet of wax paper and freeze for a half-hour. Store the individual dough balls in a wax paper-lined freezer-safe bag.
To thaw and heat: place the roll in a baking dish covered with plastic wrap. It may take 3-4 hours for them to thaw and rise. Follow the baking directions above.
