Air Fryer Crispy Seasoned Potato Wedges

Crispy Seasoned Potato Wedges —wedges of fluffy potatoes seasoned with an incredible mix of spices and made crisp in the air fryer.

A healthier easier version of deep-fried potatoes, these delicious Crispy Seasoned Potato Wedges are crispy that tasty even with very little oil. The air fryer uses a constant flow of hot air to quickly and evenly cook food without the use of excessive fat. In some cases, a tiny spritz of oil helps to ensure maximum crispness but it’s generally not necessary. All you really need is quality ingredients and desired spices.

What you need to make crispy seasoned potato wedges

Russet potatoes– Russets make more firm and crisp wedges than other potatoes. However, gold potatoes are very tasty and will crisp up Mickey as well.
All-purpose seasoning– You should definitely make a batch of my All-Purpose Seasoning Blend. It’s great for all sorts of dishes like my Pan-Seared Chicken Breast and roasted vegetables. Otherwise, you can purchase a brand such as McCormick (affiliate link).
Canola oil spray
Pot of water
Salt
Air fryer– My air fryer is a PowerXL AirFryer Pro Oven (affil link). The settings are pretty standard for most air dryers but please follow the instructions for equivalent settings.

Parboil potatoes quick soak method

While the wedges will cook through without parboiling, using this method to quick soak the potatoes helps to quickly remove the start heat producing a fluffier more crisp potato.They also crisp more when they are cooked twice so the parboiling will partially cook them making them more crispy. How to make air fryer seasoned potato wedges

Prepare the potatoes by rinsing and scrubbing the skin to remove debris and any unsightly blemishes. Cut the potatoes into wedges leaving the skin on. Rinse the wedges and set them aside.

Bring to boil a pot with 2-3 cups of water with kosher salt over medium heat. Submerged the potato wedges in the water to carefully then turn the heat to simmer for 6-7 minutes. Turn off the heat and immediately run the pot of potatoes under cold water until the potatoes cool down.

Let the potatoes dry and completely cool on paper towels over a baking sheet. Once cooled, remove the paper towels and lightly spray both sides of the wedges with the canola oil spray. Follow with the all-purpose seasoning.

Layer the fries onto the trays and load them into the air fryer. Set the fryer to the Fry setting and bake for 12 minutes. The fries will be crisp and golden brown.

Ingredients

  • 4 russet potatoes scrubbed, rinsed, and cut into wedges
  • 3 c water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp all-purpose seasoning
  • Canola oil spray
