Oven-Baked Barbecue Chicken —perfectly seasoned oven crisped chicken slathered in your favorite barbecue sauce.
Oven barbecue chicken is the best. I love the juicy meat and crispy chicken skin all covered in deliciously sticky barbecue sauce. What I don’t love is the stuck-on mess that it leaves on my favorite cast-iron pan. But I don’t sweat the mess because I’ve got a secret weapon. No, make that two weapons—Palmolive® Ultra Oxy & Scotch-Brite® Advanced Scrub Dots Non-Scratch Scrubbers.
This combination of Palmolive® and Scotch-Brite® gives shoppers the perfect solution to clean up any type of mess allowing for an easy clean. Don’t worry about cleaning gloves; Palmolive® is tough on grease, soft on hands. The Scotch-Brite® Advanced Scrub Dots Non-Scratch Scrubbers are non-scratch and safe on non-stick cookware too. Barbecue Chicken Ingredients
Chicken– I’m using a mix but you can use the pieces that you prefer.
Barbecue Sauce– Try my Carolina Style Mustard Barbecue Sauce. It’s sweet and tangy; made with a mustard vinegar base.
Barbecue spice blend– You can use a homemade blend or your favorite store brand.
Olive oil
This recipe is deceptively simple. It only takes 4 ingredients and about 35 minutes of cooking time. We’re talking about dinner in under an hour.
Recipes that go well with baked barbecue chicken
I like to serve this yummy oven-baked barbecue chicken with my Creamy Stovetop Mac and Cheese with a nice side salad. But it is great with my Southern Potato Salad, Spicy Bacon Collard Greens, and Golden Sweet Cornbread as well.
Four easy steps to make Barbecue Chicken in the oven
First, mix the olive oil with the barbecue spice blend. Next, brush the chicken pieces with the olive oil mix.
Then, bake the chicken uncovered for 35 minutes or so in a 450 degree preheated oven.
Finally, brush the chicken generously with the barbecue sauce and broil for 5 minutes.
Cleaning cast-iron after baked barbecue
After all the bellies are full and it’s time to clean, I reach for my fantastic duo to demolished the baked grease. They can handle the heaviest messes like my lovely cast-iron skillet. Palmolive® Oxy attacks grease and hard to fight surface stains* on dishes. It’s tough on grease, soft on hands. The Advanced Scrub Dots Non-Scratch Scrubbers deliver the trusted scrubbing power of the Scotch-Brite® Brand for the knockout punch, and rinses clean.
To clean off the baked-on grease and sauce from the barbecue chicken, place the skillet under running hot water to spray away the excess sauce.
Turn off the water, then squeeze a dollop of Palmolive® Oxy onto a Scotch-Brite® Advanced Scrub Dots Non-Scratch Scrubber. Scrub the surface of the pan with the soapy sponge to release any particles.
Finally, rinse the pan clean with more hot water. Voila, right as rain!
